| Head Varsity Coach - Jamie Sliwa Coach Sliwa has been the Head Varsity Coach at Jordan High School since 2004. During that time, the team has earned the Pac VI Regular Season Title (2004, 2010, 2011), a Pac VI Conference Tournament Title (2005), a State Semi-Final playoff appearance (2006), and successfully made the playoffs each year. (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011). In 2004, 2008, 2010, and 2011, Coach Sliwa was named Pac VI Conference "Coach of the Year." Coach Sliwa played his college lacrosse at Division I Canisius College and Division II Wingate University as both a close defenseman and a long stick midfielder. Prior to becoming the Head Coach at Jordan High School, Coach Sliwa worked at Southeast Raleigh High School as the Head JV coach for 2 years. Coach Sliwa has also coached at multiple lacrosse camps including; UNC Lacrosse Camp, Pfeiffer Lacrosse Camp, Roanoke Defenseman's Challenge, and The Roanoke Goalie Camp, as well as the selection committee for the 2006 North Carolina State Games "North" team. During the offseason, Coach Sliwa is the program director for the "FCA Lacrosse North Carolina" travel team as well as it's head coach. Questions for Coach Sliwa? Since taking over, the JV team at Jordan has had quite a few impressive season's, including "winning" the conference in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Prior to 2008, Coach Haine was the Head Varsity Coach at Northern Durham High School of the PacVI, where he started the program. During this time, the team showed great improvement each season. Prior to his tenure at Northern, Coach Haine started the lacrosse program at Charlotte Butler High School, where he served as head varsity coach for 3 seasons. Coach Haine has also served as a head athletic trainer, coached soccer, and field hockey. Coach Haine grew up in West Chester, PA and attended Springfield College where he recieved his B.S. in Athletic Training. He then attended UNCG and recieved his M.ed in Health Education. E-mail him at: Steven.Haine@dpsnc.net Varsity Assistant Coach - Jim Sliwa Coach Sliwa began working on the staff at Jordan in 2005 as an assistant defensive coordinator for the JHS lacrosse program. In 2005, Coach Sliwa played an important role in the developement of a young, but talented, defensive unit. Coach Sliwa is also known for his timely "humor," helping to lighten the situation. Coach Sliwa comes to the Jordan lacrosse program after being an assistant lacrosse Coach at the Notre Dame Preparatory School in Pontiac, MI. While at Notre Dame Prep, Coach Sliwa helped to compile a 2 year record of 29-11, and a trip to the state semi-finals. During this time, Coach Sliwa was also the head JV Coach for the Notre Dame Preparatory School. As head JV Coach, he helped to teach a very good group of lacrosse players, while winning some of the biggest games in the school's JV history with wins over Brother Rice, Cranbrook, and Orchard Lake St. Mary's. Coach Sliwa has also headed multiple summer teams in MI and worked with the Western Michigan Lacrosse travel team. His "Warrior Lacrosse Summer Sizzler" tournament team defeated a very good team primarily composed of Canadien players in overtime to win the championship. Coach Sliwa has attended the University of Michigan's lacrosse coaching clinic, and multiple NCAA final four lacrosse coaching clinics. |
